PRINCIPAL OF BALDWIN HIGH SCHOOL
The Baldwin UFSD is seeking a collaborative, creative, and innovative school leader as Principal of Baldwin High School. The new Principal will have the opportunity to expand Baldwin’s award-winning Academic Academy Program and foster groundbreaking collaborations with higher education and industry.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The High School Principal is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and administration of Baldwin High School.
START DATE: July 1, 2026
REPORTS TO: The Superintendent of Schools or Designee
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary in accordance with the Association of Baldwin Administrators contract; 11-month position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspire excellence in students, faculty, and staff;
- Demonstrate a record of innovation in developing and implementing programs that support the success of all students;
- Exhibit a strong, collaborative leadership style grounded in honesty, transparency, and inclusivity, with a focus on high student achievement;
- Work effectively with Assistant Principals, department supervisors, directors, and district administrators to support instructional and organizational goals;
- Foster positive relationships with various bargaining units and employee groups, promoting morale and a strong sense of school pride;
- Cultivate a positive school culture by enhancing school climate, supporting school beautification efforts, and promoting school spirit; culture of care and high expectations;
- Apply deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student learning outcomes;
- Oversee and implement the APPR or STEPS process;
- Use data and research-based practices to drive continuous improvement in student achievement;
- Integrate technology effectively to support instruction, management, and communication;
- Conduct fire and lockdown drills, and maintain the safety of the students, according to School District policies and New York State.
- Build and sustain partnerships with families, community members, and external organizations;
- Maintain responsibility for the overall supervision and administration of all student activity programs, including all extra-curricular programs of the school in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees and the Baldwin UFSD;
- Apply high professional standards in the selection and recruitment of staff and assist in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school's professional staff;
- Work with the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development;
- Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Business & Administrative Services, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, and other appropriate central office administrative personnel regarding the following school needs:
a. curriculum
b. personnel
c. financial/accounting functions
d. maintenance
e. security
f. transportation and special services
g. food service
h. recreational programs;
- Responsible for accurate accounting and following District regulations and procedures for all funds handled in connection with the high school's programs, which includes preparing and submitting the building's budget, budgetary requests, and monitoring the expenditures of funds;
- Maintain active relationships with students and parents;
- Work with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement the District's Code of Conduct;
- Lead and participate in committees, task forces, and school-based teams to advance key initiatives;
- Participate in school and community events, including evening and extracurricular activities;
- Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with all stakeholders to support the school’s mission and vision;
- Other duties as assigned.
