Job Description

TEMPORARY HEAD COOK

LOCATION: Baldwin High School
HOURS: 10 Month Schedule; 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM
EFFECTIVE: Immediately
REPORTS TO: Cook Manager, Building Administration, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Administrative Services
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 

• Under general supervision, the duties require the use of judgement in preparing and cooking food for large groups

• Supervising subordinate personnel

• Prepares and cooks meat, fish, poultry, soup, vegetables, salads, rolls, cakes, pies and other foods

• Assists in the planning of menus and the purchasing of food

• Supervises the cleaning of the kitchen and storage areas

• Inspects and maintains inventory of food and supplies

• Coordinates food deliveries for all buildings

• Coordinates attendance and coverages

• Maintains time records of all employees

 

Job Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in large scale food preparation and cooking

• Knowledge of the principles of dietetics and nutrition

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment

• Ability to apply established safety and sanitation precautions and regulations

• Ability to use and care for kitchen equipment and appliances

• Ability to follow oral and written directions

• One year of satisfactory experience in the large-scale preparation of food

• NYS Dept. Of Education Fingerprint Clearance
